In this commercial, almost every person shown is distracted by their cell phone. They are paying more attention to their phone than what is going on around them, causing them to have accidents. This commercial seems to be showing how distracting cell phones really are in one's every day life, which is true. However, they advertise for a phone that they believe will cut back one's time spent on their cell phone. We notice that people that have iPhones are usually seen using them a lot more than people that don't have smartphones. The reason for this is because they have so many applications and implications. Therefore, if this company is claiming that this new phone will make people spend less time on their phone, it is highly unbelievable since people tend to spend more time on a technologically advanced phone than an older model. What these phones are doing though, is distracting people from reality, the natural world, and processes around them.

I think this is hilarious, because it is so true. All these adults spend so much time trying to use their phones for everything in their lives. Even though kids may use their phones more often, we know how to quickly get back to the real world. So these stupid accidents frequent us less.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree. I think that the commercial is sort of ironic. Seeing as how they are advertising a phone that has more stuff on it so it can get you "in and out" but the truth is, the more technical a phone is, the more people use it. Especially our generation. I always say how my little brother is always playing the game or on the computer when he should be outside playing. Kids don't seem to find going outside fun anymore because they're too busy playing the Wii,Xbox, on the computer, or in their phones. It just goes to show how technology is taking over especially when you see Kindergarteners with the same phones as high schoolers.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the idea of the commercial being ironic. The "in and out" statement made in the commercial says the phone is faster than the older models but is also equipped with more apps and such which may keep people on the phone even more. After watching the commercial it makes me wonder what will happen with the father and his son's relationship after he gets hold of the newer advertised phone. The father can still neglect him and the quality time he has to spend with him, or they become closer since the father may want to show his son all of what the phone can do.
ReplyDeleteI think this commercial was a creative and comical way to advertise the new phone because many of the events actually happen. It also provides insight on how dependent we have become on technology. We are using more technology to solve our technological problems. I thought it was strange that the main focus were the preoccupied phone users but in many scenes, other people were distracted as well. This could be giving emphasis on how busy we are and that we need the newest phone so we can get back to doing other activities.
ReplyDeleteI really like this commercial, the sequence of events leading up to everyone eventually saying "Really?" was funny to me. It also is a very true depiction of today's society and how we are constantly on our phones and the accidents that technology causes us to have. This reminds me of a true event, a lady was texting and walking and fell into a fountain at the mall. She was embarrassed but also spoke about all of the dangers of multi tasking while on your cell phone. Check it out!!

I found this commercial funny and ironic. I do think that people today do spend alot of time on their phones, but I do not understand by having a phone with more capabilities will change that. I feel that this phone commercial is more of foreshadowing of what could happen when phones with more capabilities are available. Perhaps for the next commercial the company can show smart phone users managing their responsibilities even less.
ReplyDeleteI found this commercial to be absolutely hysterical. It is an example of how much everyone uses their phones in today's society. Even in important events or day-to-day activities EVERYONE uses their cell phone at some point or another, whether it's for communication, entertainment, or even just to check the time. At times I find it annoying to see people on their phones this much because it appears to me that their phone is more important than an actual conversation.
ReplyDeleteI found this video to be very humorous but it has a lot of truth to it. People pay too much attention today and a perfect example was the girl who fell in the mall fountain while texting. Today people completely rely on there cell phones and it is starting to develop a stage of social awkwardness. I think this commercial displays that truth pretty well
